lymph nodes

I posted this on the general forum, but it really fits better here.... maybe some of the vet students can help me out!!

Is it common for dogs to have lymph nodes in their face, i.e. on the sides of their "snout", near where the "bony protrusion"/cheek bone is??

Do lymph nodes swell locally? Meaning if a dog had an infection near a certain node, would that one swell more than other nodes, or be the only one to swell??

Thanks in advance...

Thanks Dax! we had a little scare with Roslynd this weekend... but everything turned out fine. The vet did an aspirate of a lump in her face, we all knew it was a lymph node, but they saw some abnormal cells, and thought perhaps lymphoma UGH!! Turns out just to be a reactive node, nothing bad... but, whoa, were we SCARED!!
