A standard slicker brush will work well for a Cattle Dog coat. If you want to get loads of extra hair off, too, I suggest a shedding blade... They work wonders.

![]() This is a shedding blade. You can't tell in the picture, but one side has tiny teeth on it. You use the side with the teeth on his coat, using brisk strokes going with the grain of the coat. Hair will positively pour off of him.
