Hi! I have a 7 month old Border Collie(Jake), and he seems to be doing a lot of itching
Is there something I can do for this? He's also losing some of his hair around his back legs.
I sure could use some advice here?
    Thanks!

You can use this shampoo sold on this website.

    itchy skin shampoo

    or
    dry, itchy skin shampoo
    depending on reason for itching.

Also, there might be a food allergy or something like that that would need to be checked by the vet. Although considering the season, temp, and humidity change, it's probably dry skin.

Hmm...don't know about that. If you have the heat on in your house though. Actually, you probalby don't considering where you live, but it's pretty dry air there anyway, so that's probably what it is.

Is your flea programme up to date, have a vet check him for allergies and mites too. There is usually a reason behind excessive scratching and it should clear right up once you find out what it is.

Allergies can cause itching that's out of control, too. I went through dipping and creams and all kinds of stuff when my old dog was about that age. Turns out he's allergic to soybeans and maybe corn (two of the most common fillers in cheap dog food). I switched him to a food that doesn't have soybeans, corn, or wheat in it, and he's been great ever since (14 years).

    Good luck working this out!

My shepherd has been having itchy skin issues for almost 2 years now. A groomer friend suggested I dilute the shampoo I use. I saw results after the first bath.
