cyst on ovaries anyone?

Has anyone ever dealt with a dog with a cyst on the ovaries? I have found out that is a posibility with my Destiny. May be a partial cause or total cause of her aggression. She will be getting fixed before too long so I will find out later on for sure.

Anyone else have experience with this?

That is what they will be checking Poppy for if/when she finally gets spayed in a few weeks time as they think that is the cause of her excess hormones and subsequent problems. They can cause blood clotting problems as well as agression with smaller/younger dogs but on the flip side can cause dogs to be absolutely petrified of larger dogs.

There doesn't seem to be much info about it on the web so if you find any let me know!

Why does your vet think that it's cysts?

That's why when I'm done showing (and occasionally puppies) my girls are spayed. I have heard of it in dogs, but never seen it. Please keep us updated!

Because she has swollen breasts. I never really thought it was bad at all until another vet of mine said, "oh I notice she is going through a false pregnancy?!" Ummm I had no clue. I asked why he said that. he said cause her breasts were enlarged. well he didn't say anything more and I didn't think it was a problem. well I payed more attention to them after that and noticed that they do kinda go up and down in size.

She doesn't go through actual showing the false pregnancys though, that is the funny part to me.

I end up with wierd cases with my dogs. grrrrrrrrrr last one was a 2 year old cushings dog! they say not to even think about cushings till at least 6 years! he died at 6! took the vets a while to figure that one out. grrrr

I will, thanks! I have just been short on money. lots has happened since I decided to definatly fix her, because of the aggression problems. lol funny thing is that being fixed may help the aggression and being intact may be making it worse. lol it is a vicious circle. grrrr

They don't always show as a false pregnancy, Poppy's breasts are enlarged at the moment too - along with her vulva! My vet told me that these problems are extremely rare in young dogs - well Poppy ins't even two years old yet.

Rottiegirl, I took Poppy in to be spayed in December (it is nigh on impossible to get dogs spayed before their first season in the UK) and that's when they found out she had the blood problem, only now have they discovered what has been causing the problem. She didn't show any external signs at all in December but after this season boy did I notice the difference.

Good luck ESLover

update

well I talked to a lady the other day at the dog class orientation for Paige and found out some interesting stuff.

I found out that this lady had a great lab that after about a year and a half the dog started having aggression issues like my destiny. well the dog ended up having 2 false pregnancys. the vet reccomended spaying the dog. they did. guess what they found? they found that her uterus was brown instead of pink like a healthy uterus should be. also her ovaries were hard as rocks they said.

after all this the lady said the dog has been a perfect angel, a great lovable dog with no aggression problems!

Destiny is being fixed in two weeks from today! I am soooo happy, a little nervous but I know nothing to really worry about though.
