ELLIE update, update, hold that relief...

So I have now brought Ell's home, but unfortunately the vet now says that pyometra has not been ruled out.. .
They have taken xray and ultrasound, whilst there is not obvious signs in her womb they are still concerned, and haven't crossed pyometra off.
There are two types, open which freely allows puss to drain from the vulva and closed, which is the opposite, where only minute amounts leak out.
So while she is at home, I have to place a white sheet under her at all sleeping times and check for any discharge.
She is to go back to the vets on Friday, if she isn't completely better then they are going to do blood work, or if she gets worse in the meantime she is to go straight in.
This is scary stuff, They said any signs at all just bring her back cause it will be life threatening.
I am just about at the stage of forgetting about this whole breeding thing and get her spayed.
Reading the info, it looks like she either has Pyometra, or a phantom pregnancy, so next heat we are gonna go through the same thing right, then even if we get through it all, she then has the extra risk cause those that have phantoms are high risk for pyometra later right? umm I just dunno.

Will they spay her while infected? I know if they have no choice they will but it might be the best preventative action now no matter what.

Yes they said she obviously doesn't have the open Pyometra which they can do stuff to save the uterus with, in the closed one there is no option but to remove it, and it will be emergency, life threatening.
I'm glad she is home, but I am very nervous about it, In a way I wish they would have kept her there, at least I would know she is safe.
She is just gonna have to sleep with me, I have her right beside me now on her chair.
She wagged her tail that hard, gave me cuddles, and cried, soooo happy to see me.

Chandra why don't you just quit with the excuses and admit it, your one of us now.

Couple of questions...do you find you are checking out the forum first thing when you wake? Do you find you are checking in on it later in the afternoon?

Then you will be checking it before you go to bed, then you will just leave it hooked up and come on and off all day, then you will get to know what times everyone is on..then your hubby will be threatening you to get off that darn computer, your talking to your doggy friends again. lol.
Dax, Weimlover and I have had conversations in this vein many times. lol.
I had a time when my computer was down, and I lowered myself to pinching my sons while he was away..
We here on the doggy forum are thinking of setting up a group, forum addicts annonymous, it will be a self help, drug free weaning program. INTERESTED!!

Yeah.. I think I may just have to change my Yahoo status: Do Not Disturb. Talking to my Dog People.

LOL!

p.s. Is this also a good time to admit I have this secretly bookmarked at work for regular check ups? LOL I'm hooked. I admit it! That's the first step.. But I'm not taking the second one.. I'm getting on the plane with Dax... Margaritaville here we come! Or Denial... Whichever has a bigger pool and the good vodka! LOL

O.K. she's crying again, nothing else, she was just sitting beside me on her chair, nice and close and starts to whimper. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ELL'S?
I don't know what else to do.

She's just glad that I'm back. She missed me.

Just pet her and love her and coo.. Harley usually calms down if I get the baby talk going.
