Dax's Tumors * Warning * gross pictures

Dax has had tumors on her bum for several years. We opted not to have the vet surgically remove them because he would have had to build her a new one.
However that means that she gets flair ups. The tumors grow and stretch the skin. Here is a picture of one that has erupted.

I have found that if left unattended, they will burst open and bleed for days. They seem to bleed as long as there is any tumor tissue left inside as it keeps the wound from healing.
So I have to remove the tissue.

At least count she has 5-7 of these.

They bleed like sons of guns but don't seem to cause her any pain as long as they are taken care of. They have a very unpleasant smell to them as well.

I'll try to get a picture today so you can see how well it starts to heal.

Poor Dax!! I'm glad they don't seem to be painful for her. Do you know why she gets them? Is it due to her age, or is there a health issue that causes them?

They aren't age related. Just tumors.

Aw, poor Dax!! At least they don't cause pain. My Nightmare used to get those. They were tough on her though, because she had so many.

Ouch, even though they don't seem to be painful for her they must hurt even just a little bit. It's good that you are the sort of person who will take care of these for her, I know that some people wouldn't. You are such a fantastic mommy Give her a big hug from me and Poppy.

I am so sorry to hear about these tumours. I hope the pictures look worse than the actual sores.
It is amazing what you can do when you love Dax as you obviously do. I do not think I could do what you are doing but when the pupy dogs need attention it is amazing how the adrenaline kicks in and your mind over rides the horrors. I hope Dax is not in pain but you are the only one who can judge that.
Good Luck and keep being brave. I can understand that is must be a horrible routine to go through but keep your chin up.
Love conquers all............
Love Frankie and Big Licks to Dax from Fireking.
