My dog is ill

We took him to the vet 4 days ago because "jack" was losing large patches of hair (bald spots) the vet gave him a shot of steriods and gave us two scripts one is clemastine and the other is prednisone. Now Jack is always tired and has no energy at all. He is only a year and four months old. The bald spots are clearing up but he looks terrible especially in his eyes. You can always tell by the eyes. He is drinking three times more water than ever before and is not eating well. He seems to be losing weight. Can anyone help me I don't have the money to take him back to the vet anytime soon. Any advice?

Gosh I don't know the side effects of the drugs he is on. I would call your vet and ask. Don't be afraid to explain your financial situation and see if they can give you some advise over the phone.

You can google "veterinary advise" but if this vet saw Jack that would be the best advise in my opinion. Good Luck. These drugs don't work over
night so it just may take awhile to show improvement. I know what you mean about the eyes.

I'm not sure about where you live, but around here if you take a dog back to the vet for the same problem they consider it a "recheck" and don't charge. Please phone and see if this is the case. I'm wondering if they did any blood work. Take a urine sample in so they can check for sugar and infection. Is your pup peeing more than usual?? Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for the advice

I talked to the vet and he has had me back of the medication I have been giving Jack. I was hoping he would let me do that. Thanks again I'll let you know how it goes in the next couple of days.

I'm glad you called the vet. I'm not quite sure I understand ?? Is he back on or off the meds?? I agree with Mara some blood work might be in order
and you might be able to work out a payment plan with the vet. This way
you would probably have the answer and know how to treat it. Let us know if we can help in any way.
