my barbarian may be sick?

Hi everyone-

Update on Conan...the mites are finally gone! But apparently now he has fleas! The good news is that the vet is going to do his surgery anyway, since fleas are not parasites, unlike mites. He is scheduled for surgery Sept. 10th! He will be chipped then as well. I can't wait for this to be over with! I do have a question though...he is taking a pill called Carstar for his fleas. He takes one every three days. The problem is this-ever since he started on the medication he has had the WORST and I do mean the WORST diharea (sp?) I have ever seen. Should we stop giving him the pill? Does anyone know if this is a side effect of Carstar? He's up to 95lbs now, and the messes are just as big! Please help! Thanks!

It might be a side effect. Try adding some cheese to his diet to firm it up a bit or more veggies (fiber). I wouldn't stop the medication without checking with your vet. 1/2 pill of pepto bismo would also firm up his poop. If diaherra continues for more the 48 hours after the pepto - vet visit called for. Might be a stomach bug then.

Boy - he's getting big.

Ariel's still more though - she's over 100 lbs and still growing. I've gone ahead and ordered the saddle LOL.

I've used a TBLS of pumpkin (each day) with my Sidney and it works well for diarrhrea. She likes it and will eat it plain but you can mix it with Conans' food if needed. Good luck!
