I wonder what my rescue thinks ?

Am I the only one that wonders what their rescue is thinking/worried about? I have been worried that Loki thinks I may give him away - he's here to stay. I just wish I could communicate that. He rides in the car ok, but you can tell he's nervous.

I've only had Loki for a little over a month. He was with his foster mom for about 3-4 months and was with the pyr rescue lady for about 2 months. Does he think I'm going to leave him too. Last night we went to do something (I forget what) but he just whined a little bit and I had to tell him 'don't worry, big guy, you're not going anywhere and gave him a hug and he was ok.

The weird things I worry about!!! Anybody else worry about silly stuff like that?

Clue: Cliffords new collar looks exactly like this last one. It's bright pink!

I have thought that before...I also thought of the life that they use to lead. Some of the dogs I have had come from various situations. All the dog that I have rescued lived to a ripe old age here.

I had a Japanese Chin that enjoyed his life with us. He was glued to you and would never leave you out of his site. Why he was so mistreated I will never know. When I had gotten him he had been tied outside on a short chain in 80 degree weather for a week with no food or water. His ears were hairless and bloody. Later he began to have seizures which was due to blunt trauma to his head. I think he would of said thank you for saving me.

Well, I go through this everyday it seems. Buddy has separation anxiety.I know very little about his past, but he has obvious traits that are associated with his former life. I can hear him barking(a different bark than normal) while I'm backing out of the driveway. When we went away over Memorial weekend, I came home to a bloody, hairless leg! He has Issues.

Yep I think that with Bundy. I have had him for over a year now. I think he knows he is here to stay but there are times that his eyes look sad. And there are times when I may do something and he runs and hides. I would never EVER hit my or anyone elses dogs. I just wish he would understand that. I hate to think of what he went through before I got him. He is getting better in car rides but there are still some days where he vomits in the car. I just make every day special for him and Rusty. Rusty I know knows he is never leaving me. Moving interstate with him in tow says it all doesnt it.

it took a good 6 or 7 months before Faith would happily get in a car with us. she would look pathetic like we were beating her and just lay in the back.

even now, when it's been almost a year (1 year tomorrow, yeah!) she's much better but still has her moments. she's not worried about the car anymore, but still worries from time to time about other stuff.

if a friend takes her leash for a moment b/c i need to do something she gets upset and tries to pull away from them and get back to me.

I will have had MEka 2 years in October, I think. I think she finally knows she lives HERE, and nothing is going to change that.
I think alot depends on the dog, and their past.
Dana on the other hand, seemed fine from day 1.

Its hard for me to foster sometimes, because sometimes I think the dog feels I too am just dumping him after a month or two.

On the other hand I feel generally we put too much emotion into the situations.
Bottome line is I think if the dog, is safe, warm, fed and loved, what more do they want?? Thats often the role of a foster home.

I'm sure Loki will realize with time that he is there to stay. Keep talking to him. I'm sure it helps him.

The weird things I worry about!!! Anybody else worry about silly stuff like that?

Both of the dogs i have now are rescues one is 10 yrs old and the other is almost 4 yrs old i adopted them within 6 months of each other in 02

They are both NEUROTIC. got to love them but... The 10 year old devoloped seperation anxiety when i went back to work full time ( i used to joke that i would have to cut my hours for the dogs sake) But he is actually very laid back great dog but then im not biased or anything

Reagan is my problem child. When we got her she weighed 24 pounds she should have been at least 40 pounds she was 7 months old at the time All i really know about her is that you could count all of her ribs and her previous owners threw her out of their moving truck in a lowes parking lot their were witnesses but no one got the licence plate. this and who knows what else making her scared of strangers I have socialized her as much as i can and she is 85% better however she still growls at certain people. but if you are willing to love on her she warms up quickly and she is great with children
the thing that worries me is that she does not like to eat! sometimes she will go a week without eating no matter what i entice her with she has gone to the vet several times about this and they can find nothing wrong
i honestly think she is afraid that she will run out food and not have anymore even though she has been fed daily since we got her. knock on wood she is keeping her weight up lately i am happy to see. i am not however happy about what she eats she loves pedigree so i feed her half pedigree half verus which is a good food but i am at the point were if she is eating it why rock the boat

Loki is a great dog, it's just in certain cases he seems to get nervous. Like when he met me he was fine, now he seems nervous to meet other people. I'm going to sign him up for PetCo classes for the sole purpose of socialization. He knows his basic commands . Plus I'm hoping he'll form a stronger bond with me... he's always by my side as it is.

I just worry about him - over protective mom
