Have you tried wrapping the pill in cheese, butter, or peanut butter? If that doesn't work, try tuna fish. This always works for my dogs.

What is his favourite food? I cram pills into little cubes of apple, banana, or other fruit. By the time he chews the pill up and tastes it, it is too late.

It's either cheese or hotdogs. If that doesn't work because the dog detects the smell of the pill, I semi-force-feed by opening the mouth, dropping the pill in and then filling up with either cheese of hotdog pieces. I hold the mouth upwards so that gravity helps get the pill down. Seems to do the trick every time and if the meds need to be taken, I will find a way to administer them.

this is how I was shown to give my dogs pills that they didn't want to take no matter how much cheese we had on it:

have the dog sit and open his mouth. drop the pill to the back of the throat and then close the dog's mouth. gently rub the dog's throat up and down to stimulate their swallowing instinct.

Peanut butter has worked wonders for me. They can't smell the pill as much, and once the peanut butter is in their mouths, they can't unstick the pill.

I give the pills the same way bernice does, that's how the vets do it and they have no trouble. Give a treat after the pill has been swallowed, you'll feel less guilty lol.

I have always used cream cheese. I have my dog sit and shake , this way he thinks he's getting a treat. If I go into the kitchen to get Tylenal for myself and he hears the bottle rattle he come running from where ever he was and thinks he's going to get a treat.lol

i generally cover with peanut butter.

i have also used the trick of pretending to eat it and then offering it as a treat. sometimes it's down the back of her throat and in her belly before she even knew what it was.
