Bad update on Sassy

I'm so upset. Sassy had kept her stitches in this time and was doing really well. We got up this morning and she can't walk. The leg that had the surgery on is all swollen and she can't put any weight on it. I laid on the floor with her, the incision looks fine and I don't see any infection but I do see a rash all over her belly. Her poor foot is huge due to the swelling. We have a vet appt at 3:15. I know that dogs get along well with 3 legs but she's 12 which is really up there for a pitbull - and she's "fluffy" or overweight. The poor girl has had at least 4 surgeries in her lifetime and they were all hard ones. I'm not ready to let her go. The last few days she was sooo healthy acting, she had her happy puppy face again. I guess I shouldn't stress out about it till I get some news from the vet. Good health vibes for her would be appreciated.

im gonna send all the good that has not happend to me since my surgery to sassy. I sure hope that it is nothing to bad but it could be an infection.
In most cases they can be treated. good luck and know that all of us are thinking of sassy in my house!!!!!!

I'm back (and so is Sassy)! The incision looks perfect, all the stitches are now out and there is no infection. The leg that was swollen is also the leg that she had surgery on years and years ago - the ACL thing. He messed with her leg and then took x-rays and couldn't find anything. He thinks she just twisted it, possibly jumping on or off the bed. He told me to keep her on the benadryl for the swelling. It's already gone down some. Reminds me of when the kids were small, they'd have a fever - I'd take them to the doc and by the time we got there - kids were fine. As for the rash, he thinks it's some type of allergy thing and he gave me a new anti-biotic called linconin. He doesn't want the rash to end up an infection and have that spread to her new incision. Anyway, your good health vibes worked and I didn't have to make any dreaded decisions. She's sleeping peacefully now, I'm supposed to keep her off the leg as much as possible till the muscle or whatever gets better. If it's not better, we go back again. I live upstairs and it's soooo hard to get her up and down them to go potty. I use the towel under her butt thing, but even that's killing my back and arms. Thanks to all of you!

The most positive thinking and best wishes are coming from me and Fireking.
You and Sassy will get through this.
Keep your chin up and your strong spirit and Sassy's will see you through.
Will be thinking of you both tonight and each minute is a minutes more healing.
Take care
Try and sleep and rest yourself as Sassy needs your strength.
Lots of Love
Frankie and Fireking

Frankie and Fireking - you're right about the resting. If I can't sleep, I can't be much help to her. I think I need to get a second opinion on her. She just tried to stand up and she fell over. I'm just at my wit's end, When I look back at video of my last dog Sadie, I know that I waited too long and made her go through too much before she passed. But thankfully with her, I didn't have to make the decision, she died at home in my arms. I'm gonna go lay down on the floor with Sassy and just comfort her. Maybe she'll take a long needed nap with me. Thanks again to everyone for their best wishes, it means alot to me that I have someone to discuss it all with.
