Poppy's home from spay surgery

she's in a bit of a state though. She wasn't too impressed to see me at the vets, she still had a "thing" in one of her veins incase they needed to administer anything else intrevenously. The nurse took it out while I was there and I held on to Poppy and the nurse managed to splash some of the antiseptic stuff in my eyes... Anyway, Poppy was shaking and panting and I just thought she wanted to get home. She was like it in the car and even though we've been home for more than an hour she's still the same. It is so distressing to watch her.

I called the vets and they said it's normal and that if she isn't better tomorrow to call them.

Also they have put a dressing where they cut her open and told me there was a "splodge" of blood and that was normal and nothing to worry about. When I checked when we got home the "splodge" has soaked up half this dressing ...

I had to lift her in the car and she's not allowed up or down stairs so I might have to sleep in the kitchen with her tonight

Anyway, I just thought you might like an update...

Poor baby. I've never experienced any of those symptoms but here they keep the dogs overnight so you don't pick them up til the next day.

Big hugs for her.

Aw babyelephant. what a nightmare of a day.
At least the surgery has finally been done and Poppy is through stage 1.
The worst is over. A night in the kitchen with her will totally relax her but make sure you get some sleep as well as she needs your strength to get through this. TLC is what she needs now and with the stress and anastheti she has had she will probably sleep like a baby but she will know you are there for her.
Please update forum tomorrow so we know how you both coped overnight.
Everyone is supporting you from the forum as you know.
Try and get some sleep even if it is as the dogs do with one eye open.
Tomorrow is another day and sleep is a marvellous healer.
Lots of prayers and hugs and all that is needed from us.
Take care both of you.
Love Frankie and Fireking

Big hugs Poppy! So glad it's done for you. Sleeping in the kitchen, I have done that a time or two! You're a good "mom" BabyE!

Aw BabyE. I'm so glad the surgery is behind you all. She'll likely be out of sorts for a couple days but should respond well to some good old TLC!!! I hope she recovers quickly.

Very happy for you baby elephant, must be such a big load off your shoulders. Poor Poppy probably will appreciate the T.L.C. that you'll be lavishing on her. Hope you don't run into any problems and that tomorrow will be a happy one. good Luck to you both.
