anyone familiar with rottie rescues?

Hi... still on my search for a new home for my dog. He has bitten once, will a rottie rescue still possibly accept him?

Cooper - if you give up this dog and he is not re-trainable, would you be comfortable with someone else having to put him down. Is the last face he sees in his life that of a stranger.

I know you are trying to find an option to save his life because you are scared of what he is capable of and don't feel you have the knowledge, time or resources to deal with this.

I believe that when we agree to own a dog we do so for the life of the dog. I would never give a potentially dangerous dog to anyone else. I would still feel responsible for anything that dog did.

For myself - if I gave up on the dog I would take him to the vet for a respectful peaceful passing. The last face he would see would be that of someone who truly loved him.

I think that in your case it is very appropriate to find your dog a new home. Personally, judging solely from what you have said from your description of what happened, I think you dog would be fine in a home that had no young children or small dogs just in case something more develops. Also, the new owner should have experience with large dogs, (experience with Rotties would be a plus) and know how to train a dog. I don't think that you should put him down just because you aren't in a position to raise him when someone else out there very well could be able and willing to raise him. You just have to take on the responsibility to find a proper home, which unfortunately can be very difficult. Also, keep in touch with the new owner if you can and be as involved as possible so something won't happen where they put him down shortly without contacting you about it first.

Sorry I don't know about Rottie rescues and if they will take him.
