Fireking excellent

HI everyone
For those of you who have been following the saga of Fireking, I thought I would let you have the current update.
Without tempting fate and I hate to do this as it has backfired on me before Fireking is now on his 10th or 11th good day.
He hates the medicated food so I have ignored the vets advice (please all vets don't tell me off as it seems to be working) but the smell of the food is awful and he will not eat it on its own so I add some different things to make him eat his food and he does.
I always add some gravy either chicken or beef and sometimes some hotdogs, hard boiled eggs, mashed potato. All in small portions but enough to make him eat.
He then eats his medication and has not lost weight which is one of the bad signs the vet told me to look for. And I also give him his dental stix which the vet again told me not to give any treats and he considers them treats but I do not want my poorly boy to have toothache as well as everything else.
I know I am going against medical advice but he has energy, sleeps well, is a contented dog and to me if this works well so be it.
If anyone out there has any other suggestions of tasty snacks then I would appreciate some tips.
Pleased to give a positive update
Lots of Love
Frankie and Fireking

Frankie - I couldn't have come home to better news! You are doing exactly what you need to - making whatever time you have left with Fireking special! I think when my time grows near one day - I want you there with me!

Glad to see your post, was just going to pm you lol. Hey, whatever works, then go for it, I would be doing the same thing. Vets are a big help, but sometimes we know our dogs better than they do, so if Fireking is doing that good more power to you. My dogs love cheese so if he gets fed up you could melt Cheese Whiz in Micro and mix in his food. But I'm sure if he comes to that point there will be lots of members with lots of ideas. So happy for you and Fireking, you are doing a super job with him.

Thanks to all of you for your kind wishes and congrats. I must be doing something right. Not vets advice but as you say we know our dogs better than anyone else.

Debbie. I loved your comment but hope that this will be a long long long way in the future.

I appreciate all the support that other members have given Fireking and myself and I thank God that I joined the forum.
Thanks again to all my new pals from accross the world.
Chao for now.
Hasta pronto.
Frankie and Fireking.

Great news! Hopefully you'll have many more of these good days. And like everyone has said, sometimes we know what's best for our pets, even though the vets try their best. Hugs and prayers for both of you! Kathy and Maia
