Freckles FINALLY got her teeth fixed!!!

I took Freckles to the Vet yesterday to FINALLY have her teeth cleaned You see when I rescued her and Manny, they came from a very poor home and she had the most horrendous (sp) breath, but she was carrying the pups so we were stuck with her being the "stinky" dog for awhile! So yesterday I take her in for a 'teeth cleaning" and the poor girl ended up having 20 teeth pulled! OMG was I shocked!!! Here I'm all worried that she wont be able to eat and be REALLY sore, so I went and bought her some canned food. I get up this morning and there the little **** is chewing on her BONE and acting like everything is normal!!! LOL guess they bounce back better than we do!

Yep and I'm really surprised, because she is usually a big sissy-girl. If you even step close to her when she's lying on the floor or something she screams like no other......lol even if you don't touch her! I think this may be due to some abuse in her former home and it infuriates me cuz she is just a very sweet lovey cuddle dog (has to be touching one of us at all times)!!

The vet said they start out with 56, so I'm assuming she still has 36. I haven't really looked in her mouth yet because I was afraid of hurting her, but it must not feel too bad since she was chewing on the bone! He also said some were abcessed, so she probably actually feels better than before! I guess maybe she was just used to em hurting (poor baby) cuz it sure never kept her from eating or chewing her bones!

Any chance you'll be able to brush what's left? I've read so much about bacteria getting into their bloodstreams via bad gums and wreaking total havoc on their systems.

It's amazing she's chewing on bones! She's a tough little bugg*er! Did the vet say it's o.k. for her to chew on them during the healing process? Are there any disolving stiches?

He really didn't say but I checked and she's not bleeding and I cant see any stitches......she's really not chewing real hard on it........I think she is just keepin it in her mouth so the other dogs can't have it. LOL She is kind of a snot that way!
