parvo

Just wanted to share in case anyone else is dealing w/ parvo

My dachshund was very lethargic and could not keep anything down. She had very bad diarrhea and was vomiting and had lost so much weight from losing all of her liquids. We took her to the vet and she tested positive for parvo.

We ordered parvoguard and administered it to her as soon as it came. After the first couple of doses she was able to keep fluids down and after the third one she was eating and drinking on her own--this is so imortant b/c most puppies with parvo die from dehydration. I also gave her some pedialite as the instructions recommended. I am sure this stuff saved my dog.

Best of luck! I also just dealt with a severely sick puppy... it's so nice when they start feeling better. I'm glad your puppy's getting better!

Southern Girl has delt with parvo before..she had to stay up all night b/c of tinkerbells medication, I stayed on the phone with her..we thought we were going to loose her but she pulled through, its tough to deal with and its sad that most puppies will die from it.

That's great news, and the pediolyte can be a life saver. I was just wondering if your dog had been innoculated for parvo and got it anyway????? I'm trying to sort the shots thing out.

Hope your pup is feeling better and back to normal soon.

Just wanted to give you a heads up, Parvo is a horrible virus to deal with. The virus can live in your home and outside for like up to 9 months. The virus will even live outside through winter. 2 months ago my SIL brought her new puppy over to show him off, poor pup was sick with Parvo. I just had to bleach my hard wood floors and wash all of my rugs with Novasan, wash and bleach all of our shoes, clothing and yard as well. Everywhere and thing that the puppy came incontact with. We were going to get a puppy but now I don't dare risk it for a while. So we have to wait.
