Question Swimming After Frontline?

Okay, today is the day I'm supposed to do Georgie's monthly frontline and heart guard treatment. Here's my question... My previous vet (the one I left because he wouldn't treat Georgie when she was sick), told me not to bathe her 4 days before or 4 days after doing the frontline treatment. We are going camping this weekend and she might be getting in the lake (not sure how she handles swimming/wading yet). Will playing around in the water make the frontline ineffective? Should I wait till after we get back? If I need to wait, then how do I prevent fleas and ticks while we're camping?

Great question, sorry I don't have an answer for you. My suggestion is to ask your vet, they should know best ......I would think. Good luck.

I checked with the vet... they said to wait 24 hours before letting her swim

I'm always curious about the way everyone talks about flea problems, We have never had any fleas on any of our dogs and we don't use anything ever. Is that just because everone's in the U.S. I know cats around here have fleas, and some dogs, but we don't know where they come from. No one has a problem out here, what am I missing? Don't know about frontline, sorry, we don't use that either, tests always negative for heartworm.

It all depends on the weather and how harsh the winter was. Pretty mild winters plus very hot summers means more bugs..including fleas.

My dogs have never had fleas either. I used to use frontline, now I use advantix because it's alot cheaper for large dogs then frontline is. The only reason I use it is because of ticks we have a problem with ticks here in Vermont.

Here in Oklahoma, we had a VERY mild winter this year. Most days ranged from mid 50s to mid/upper 60s.
Ticks really thrive in Oklahoma as do fleas, so I'm willing to do a little extra to make sure I never have a problem with either. I don't think I'd be lucky enough to avoid a problem if I didn't use something

I'm using frontline right now, because my vet has given me the past two samples for free. I haven't thought to complain about it
