Revolution vs. Sentinel
I am thinking of switching Koni's medicine. I am using Revolution on him now, and was thinking of Sentinel. What do you guys think?
Would switching medicine affect Koni? Or would it be ok to switch medicines? Opinions are greatly appreciated. ![]() Revolution:
Pros Oral medicine. Prevents, removes and controls heartworm disease, flea populations, hookworm, roundworm and whipworm Cons A bit costly, check out some on-line retailers to save money - No tick prevention The Bottom Line No spot application, just simple oral pill that prevents, removes and controls heartworm disease, flea populations, hookworm, roundworm and whipworm. |

I use sentinel. It's easier for us because it is pill form. We used revolution when we first got Denali, but switched vets, the current vet gave us the pros and cons and we switched over.
We really don't have a tick problem here in northern ohio. We had no problem switching from Revolution to Sentinel. |

I am entirely Pro Sentinel. I am not a fan of external flea medication... Don't like the goopy stuff, and my dog's coat does not return to it's normal fluffiness for weeks, even though rolling on the ground and swimming may have the effectiveness of the chemical worn out way earlier.

Bianca has been on Revolution and I have found ticks on her-they are dead and not attached (they stick in her hair). I have always used Frontline on the big dogs and have never had a problem-I give them oral heartworm/worm meds. I may switch them all to Sentinel, but will definitely switch Bianca. Also, our vet said that the Revolution repels mosquitoes (which carry heartworms), but it doesn't really affect the disease process, just the vector.
