Pom Pom touching hearts as he heals from burns

i'm posting in case anyone wants to help out this poor dog.

http://wtnh.com/Global/story.asp?S=5196304&nav=menu29_2

(Newtown-WTNH, July 25, 2006 6:00 PM) _ A 2-year-old dog named Pom Pom is capturing the hearts of just about everyone who hears his story.
The tiny Pomeranian was discovered wandering near a road badly burned.

Every day, Pom Pom has to go through the ordeal of getting his bandages changed, and his wound cleaned. The dog was found near a park and ride lot near I-84 in Newtown last week.

"He was found with third degree burns over 20% of his body, along his whole topside," says Dr. Brian Silverlieb, Mt. Pleasant Hospital for Animals.
Silverlieb has been treating Pom Pom ever since. Nobody has stepped forward to claim him, or even say they recognize him.

They named him Pom Pom because he's a Pomeranian. All they know is he was just left alone to suffer the loss of skin that came with the excruciating burns.

Silverlieb says, "We don't really know how it was caused but we're suspecting it was probably boiling hot water or grease."

Whatever caused the burns, Pom Pom will need around the clock care, and maybe even a skin graft.

"Long-term prognosis is good. I think he's probably going to need a lot of care for about the next 8-10 weeks."

And while some dogs and some people might whimper, this little dog is showing a lot of courage and a big heart.

"Quite the ham. He's very happy, loves attention. No matter what we do to him, he just kisses you and he's just very appreciative of everything we do for him."

Here at the animal hospital, they're getting lots and lots of calls about Pom Pom, people are sending cards and gift baskets. We don't know much about his past, but it looks like he's going to have a good future.

Anyone with information about Pom-pom can call the Newtown Animal Control officer Carolee Mason at (203) 426-6900

Anyone who wants to send donations to help with vet bills can send checks to:

I saw this on the news this weekend - evil b*stards that would do this to this poor little dog.

He has a fantastic disposition too - Faith did you see him just loving the kids up.

Bless him.

Obviously some sick minds out there. That is just horrible. We had a similar case where some teens doused a cat in gas and set fire to it. Somehow that cat survived. The best part is they found the responsible teens and they were sent to a detention center. I can't fathom why some people can do things like this.Well, I can, but it still shocks me.
