Dependence

Hey, I have 3 dogs a golden:13 years old, a lab:7 years old, and a great dane:11 months. My goldens health is getting worse every day and i think we will have to put her to sleep soon. The other problem is my lab has a severe addiction to my golden. Whenever the golden leaves the house the lab literally goes crazy running aroung the house whining and crying and continues to panic until the golden gets home. One reason we got our dane was to try and get him less attached, which has tooken a small effect but not much. Suggestions

Welcome aboard! I am sorry to hear about your golden's health. I think it will take time for your lab to accept life without the golden. I have read that people allow for their dogs to see their deceased dog so that they understand what happen to the dog, rather then gone on vacation. How long have you had the dane?

Hi Barkdog
So sorry to hear about your golden. Is this the usual age for a breed like that to be put to sleep?
Has He / she got medical problems? or is is just age?
Please keep forum posted.

i have had my dane since she was 4 months so ive had her for almost 8 months. the reason for the goldens health is because of age she has good eyes good hearing and a good liver but she has slowed down alot and does not like getting up alot and can barely walk up the stairs to her room.
