Porky is sick... :(
So, last night Porky was scratching his ears sooo bad and when doing it he was whinning and crying.. I was desperate... i felt so sad, because i didn't wanted anything bad to happen to him.
My boyfriend wash his ear with alcohol on the outside and a medicated cream and some other stuff on the inside... He did much better, BUT... first thing in the morning today i took him to the vet. He has an ear infection.. it seems like... "probably" some water went in when i bathe him... I am not so sure about that, because a few days ago (before bathing him) i noticed that if i rubbed his ears too hard he would complain, but i thought it was that i was being too rough on him... They gave me Baytril, Prednisone & Maoltic ( i dont know if the names are correctly written). So, hopefully he'll be better soon. (By the way, Porky is my poodle, who's the husband of Piggy and the dad of Cookie, Lola & Bacon (R.I.P.)) |

Sorry to hear about Porky, that is painful! With the meds he should be feeling much better in a couple of days. You can avoid water in the ear by putting a cotton ball in each ear before bath and also make sure the hair on the inside of ear canal is removed. The hair removal will help promote airflow and prevent wax and bacteria build-up.

One BIG watchout!!! You have to be so careful you don't go too far down into the ear or you could do serious damage. Only pluck what you can see. Miko, our 4 pound Poodle, has had minor surgery twice to remove excessive hair way down in the canal. This we could not prevent because it's hair you can't see. He would just start walking like a drunken sailor and fall over when he peed. His head would bob up and down. I felt soooo badly for him. Then he'd get the hair surgically removed under anesthesia and have to go on antibiotics for about two months. Now, I use this stuff called Hexiflush, which I get from the vet, to flush out both my Poodles ears once a week. This has helped a lot! I hope your baby is feeling better real soon. With all those meds, it should be a quick recovery. Also, I fully agree with using cotton in the OUTER ear canal when you bathe your dogs. Just remember to take it out once your dog is dry. I've forgotten a few times. |

So sorry about Porky Maritta. And it's too bad you have to put that junk in him. I keep a solution that I mix myself, very cheap to make, and I do all my dogs' ears once a week to make sure they never have dirty ears or infections. works miracles. If you're interested, just pm me and I'll give you the recipe. How are your pups doing?

I feel for you Marita. My last dog had constant infections in his ears. I even had that powder stuff to dry his ears after a bath, but still had problems. I can just imagin how it feels for them. It would be like having an itch and not being able to reach it
