The HEAT!!!

How is everyone and your dogs dealing with the extreeme heat. Here in Western NY it's not so much the temp but the humidity had been 65-85 per cent. Mon. and Tues. the temp is going to 90's with more humidity!!! My dogs are the only smart ones they sleep during day and are up and running when it gets cooler.Think we humans could take a lesson.
HOT HOT HOT

My poor Toby just can't seem to cool off. The heat index was 105 today with high humidity. It doesn't even feel cool indoors. I cooked supper in the oven tonight (in hindsight...not such a good idea) and the house hasn't cooled down since. My lil pug has been panting and puffing all day! He hasn't been wanting to go outside much today and has been drinking plenty of water..I even dropped some ice cubes in his water earlier.

It's suposed to be 97 here on Tuesday. That's INSANE. It hardly ever gets that how here. (I live in Virginia) And the humidity is horrable here, too.

It frequently gets into the high 90s here in Oklahoma. Above 100 is considered extreme. My husband doesn't worry too much about it because he grew up in the phoenix area where it often gets to 115 and sometimes higher.
Just stay indoors as much as possible, provide lots of water (and you should be drinking a lot yourself). When outside, try to have a shady spot. I have been putting out a large shallow rubbermaid tub for my dog. She lays down in it when she starts getting too hot. I only use the tub because wal mart was out of kiddie pools when we went looking for one.

Me and Lizzie are used to it. We live in Puerto Rico and have year round heat waves :-) But now that you guys are suffering (I feel so bad for those pups!) we are actually having a slight cool down since its hurricane season. Weve gone down from the usual 85-100's to 80-85, not much difference but it sure is welcome! Nice and cool, its good for Liz, lets see if the slight change in temperature will help her coat grow out a bit more, shes got a real thin coat due to the heat

This is supposed to be our hottest week of the summer. At 8 AM it was already unbearable! I got a kiddie pool that the dog enjoys and the cats just sleep all day. I think the pool won't even help today, it's swealtering here!

Actually here today they are talking in the 100's with a heat advisory...which is new for here. Have to enjoy the heat while it is here...soon will be the white stuff.

We have a kennel type room build in my basement where its cooler for my dogs. Its about the size of a bath room but with a lower ceiling and a mini sized door. We let them out every hour if they need to use the washroom and to run around a bit. When it gets cooler out we let them outside in the yard for a couple hours. We did have a kiddie pool but they broke it trying to play tug-o-war with it..lol

That's what we have here in IL, but you're just across the lake from me, so what weather we get, you guys usually get too.

So hot today I had to bring a fan to my office to cool myself off (no air conditioning), thank God for heavy insolation.

I'm keeping my dogs indoors and only short walks until the sun sets and things cool off a bit.

Hang on all!! We actually have schools that are having summer schools and they are giving the kids a "sun" day instead of a "snow" day on Tues. and Wed. because the temp. could be triple digit with humiditiy around 75-85% . Between Tues and Wed the low temps are in the 80's( at night) I'm hoping Aug. is a little more normal temps(cooler) So far my dogs are like limp noodles but doing fine. Not eating to much but drinking plenty
