Arrow Going to the Vet tonight -update if anyone cares-

Well tonight after work I am off to the vet. My little Luna has had fleas attack her really bad within a period of a week. She is currently on Advantage and it only seemed to last about 3 weeks. Fleas are INSANE here! She has now itched and licked little light scabs on her sides and around her privates. Poor little girl. It has been about 4 days since I gave her the next dose of Advantage. There is no more fleas, but she still is very itchy. My poor baby!

Well I went to the vet and she gave me some meds to give Luna. She seems to have an allergic reaction to flea bites. She is now on a tapering dose of Vanectyl-P. She also has a cone on her head and is NOT at all happy with that. When it's on she just stands in the place I put her down and looks ****** off. I am charging my camera batteries right now to get a picture, because it's quite cute. Plus I have to start giving my pups Advantage every 3 weeks because the fleas are so bad here. I really hate fleas! They are sooo gross!

i definately want to see a photo with the cone!

hope she starts feeling better soon. and, have you checked with your vet about whether it's ok to give the flea treatment every 3 weeks instead of what is recommended by the manufacturer?

I asked my vet about that. It seems in heavy duty flea seasons it is ok. I think on the box I read that you shouldn't put it on less than 1 week after the first application. It's just that every house (most have a basement suite with seperate tenants) has at least 1 cat in it. Most have 2. All are outdoor/indoor cats and I would guess only 2 have flea meds. And oh how they love to hang out in our yard and poop in our garden. I feel itchy just talking about it.

I'll post pics tonight. She looks sooooo unimpressed.

Have you considered using another flea product? I find that Frontline plus is a far better product, I was disappointed when mum used Advantage on her dogs and the dogs were still ridden with fleas. I am lucky that I don't have any fleas here. Some dogs are allergic to flea saliva and that is the cause of your girl's reaction.

Hope all turns well with your girl.
