2 Shih Tzus available for adoption
A lady I know at work is having some difficulties between her 11 year old Shih Tzus and her young son (under 3 years old), so she has decided to try to adopt the dogs out. So far, she has had absolutely NO luck, and is considering euthanizing them. I told her I would post something here, 'cause you just never know, and I hate the thought of her having to euthanize them. (For what it's worth, I absolutely do not agree with her decision to euthanize them if she can't place them.) The following is the ad she has posted in various places, locally.
If you are interested and in the Southeast Michigan area, or willing to travel there, please send me a PM. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have two 11-year-old shih tzus that are looking for a new home. It would be great if they could stay together, but separate homes are an option. They are true lap-dogs who love to snuggle. One is a 26 pound (not overweight, just very large!) black and white dog and the other is an 11 pound brindle dog. Both got rave health reviews from the vet when they had a check-up in May. All shots are current. Unfortunately my 2 year old son plays a little too rough with them. They are not aggressive dogs, but they have become defensive around him. They have both nipped him before, so they need a home without small children. |

Fiddle sticks...I would so take them, but I am in NH. Now PLEASE do not let her euthanize them. These are GREAT little pups (I have a 12 and a 2 year old Shih-Tzu) and there is a shih-Tzu rescue in Michigan. Please have her contact them first PLEASE. Here is the link:

Vinni, yes, it is too bad you are so far away. I spoke to her today, and she said she had just sent the rescue an e-mail today so didn't know what they would have to say, but she said she would almost rather have them euthanized than fostered out over and over again (which CAN happen when you put a dog into rescue). Believe me, I tried my best to come up with alternatives (assisted living facilities/nursing homes/senior housing areas), but I just don't know how much effort she is willing to put in to get them placed.
I will keep everyone posted as updates occur. Everyone keep your fingers crossed! By the way, can anyone open the pictures I attached? I can't open them! |

Also, My older Shih-Tzu Alex was 2 when my Son was born...Alex is now 12 and my son 9. I never had an issue with my son being too rough or Alex nipping him. I just needed to watch them. I really feel bad I am not closer. As I do plan on getting another Shih-Tzu, and I plan to rescue, as I did with my 2 year old Audrey. Plus I have a HUGE soft spot in my heart for the Sr. pups. Afterall we will be Sr. one day, and I hope and expect my family to love me just the same...even if I get "grouchy" .I am praying hard for these pups! And sorry I can not open the Pic's...too bad, I would LOVE to see them! |

Well, without posting too much of my opinion on the internet, I agree with you, Vinni. I am quite certain the "issue" is not with the dogs at all. I cannot understand the situation at all, but she seems to have her mind made up that these dogs are gone, no matter what. Whatever the reason, right or wrong, those dogs ARE going to be gone, one way or another.
I'm going to attempt to load the pics again. If it doesn't work again, perhaps someone can help me out and tell me what I'm doing wrong? EDIT: I give up. It won't let me attach the pics again.

These pups do NOT deserve this. |

How far are you willing to travel?
I will ask my mom and see. We have another shih tzu (3 months old) that would just ADORE playmates!!! And my mom would just love the thoughts of another shih tzu. I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma (a long ways away I know but its a thought). |

A great gesture, Corgis101, however, I don't believe that the dogs owner is willing to travel very far at all (from Michigan), so Oklahoma is out of the question!
Keep those ideas coming, folks! |
