Loose Stools

My dog has constant loose stools. Her diet consists of dog food only, (Eagle Pack). Stools were checked at 4 months or so and all clear of internal parasits. She is now almost 7 months old and first stool of the morning is usually firm, however stools through out the day get runny. She certainly doesn't appear ill in any way, and is full of energy, always willing to play or go for a hike.
Anybody have this problem in their dogs? I initially thought it might be her food so I switched her from Eukanuba to Eagle Pack about three weeks ago. No change!

That is odd and especially loose stools on eukanuba as it is full of stool reducer. If it continues on I would get her seen. Has she drank any water from ponds lakes or other animal/wildlife inhabited places?

A couple of times during a hike in the woods after a rain she might grab a mouthful of water while we walk. I certainly try and direct her around puddles and if she managed a mouthful it would have been only a mouthful.
Fresh puddle at that, nothing that birds would have had time to contaminate. I keep a very close watch on her when we are out, she's never off leash where she can get into a situation I'm not prepared for. I find that when things go bad with a dog off leash, they tend to go very bad and very quickly. I guess maybe a trip to the vet may be in order. Thanks Newbie

If this were my dog, I would get her on a good digestive enzyme.

These people sell some really good stuff in that regard. They are also very nice and will chat with you by telephone and help you choose the best things to help your dog.

ok this hits home. My English Setter has had issues with loose stools. And guess what she was on for months and months when I got her as a young pup? yep, Eagle Pack! I tried some other things like Cannidea and Purina One. HA no luck. I went to Iams of all foods and that helped.

The Natures Farmacy is great too. I actually have to go get more of the supplement at the show tommorrow. I think it helped a bit, the digestive enzymes.

Another thing I was told to try after we were happy on Iams, is put some pumpkin in the food. when I give it to the girls I just give them a couple tablespoons.

good luck and keep us updated, please.

I gave her a tablespoon of canned pumpkin yesterday morning, by last night stools were fine, again this morning stools were fine. She is likely to have pumpkin in her diet for a while now it works so well.

Yeah! glad it helped. I know it is a pain to have stools like that. I wish I would have known about that trick a long time ago.
