Hello, My dog got out of the house a few days ago. When I found her she was attached to a male dog. I can not allow her to have puppies, because my living arrangements would not allow that. I have been saving the money to get her done but I am not sure now what to do. If she is pregnant can she have an adortion and would anyone know about how much that would cost and the risks involved and how soon it has to be done? I would appreciate any help I can get. Thank you.

They can abort the pups & do a spay at the same time. It will be more expensive than just a normal spay. I suggest you contact your local humane society for any special pricing they might offer.

She should be spayed anyway if you have no intentions of breeding her. They vet might charge more for a spay if she is pregnant, but I don't know many vets who are willing to do an abortion and not spay the female.

In fact you can abort without a spey!!! Vets can give a course of injections from 2 weeks of pregnancy onwards. It is expensive, so in your case a spey whilst pregnant would be your best option.
The reason for the extra expense is while she is pregnant, her blood flow is increased, hence the need for precautions to be taken in the event of excessive bleeding. |

I mean that most vets don't like to do it for morality reasons. Its possible of course, but unless you are a professional breeder and have a darn good reason why the pregnancy is unwanted, then shouldn't the dog be spayed at the same time anyway?
