Stupid

Don't you hate when you do something stupid and it ends up in a mess? I do (too often for my liking).

I decided that I wanted to limit Ariel & Dax's access to the grass so I could put down some grass seeds to fill in the numerous dead spots from you know what. So I closed the gate and locked the dogs into their dog run & our house. They have the doggie door.

At the same time - we've been giving Ariel free access to the house since she's been SUCH A GOOD PUPPY. Plus with the weather becoming cooler their room just doesn't get enough heat to make us humans feel good about locking them in there to sleep.

So here' the mistake (besides too many changes too fast) - my basement is cement painted green. Guess where Ariel decided would be OK for a late nite pee break. GRRRR. How many brain cell do I need firing to figure this one out. So - opened the gate (good bye grass - it was nice knowing you) and blocked off the offending area.

Well, yes, stupidity hits me alot. More stupid like... running into the shower door.

To keep it on topic, I have to say, the green floor wouldn't make a difference really. Green, red and orange all look like yellow to dog, so she probably thought that you wouldn't notice, seeing as how dark it probably is down there at night.

LOL - Moo you're right - I'm projecting human qualities to the dogs (SHHH don't tell them they're dogs)

Being the good mommy that I am - I blocked off the area and placed a mirror in front of it. She decided it was time for a break and went down. You should have heard the barking. It's no longer a safe quiet little bathroom. Nothing like shadows in a dark basement (that move) to make you want to go outside.

LOL! Very clever Dax! I never would have thought to use a mirror in that way.

We all do things we consider stupid in hindsight. Bet there are some good stories out
there in that vein! I was late for work the other day and forgot to close the gate that goes
across the driveway. (Talk about stupid!) We have a loooooooooooooooong driveway
and are well off the road but not so far off that one or both of my dogs couldn't easily have
gotten out there! When I came home they were both sitting by the gate waiting for me.
Who knows if they had wandered during the day and just gotten back or if they knew to
stay home. (None of the neighbors had seen them out). It could have been disasterous
and I would never have forgiven myself if something had happened to one or both of
them. I am very careful now to make sure that gate is closed! That's my stupid
story.....well, one of them anyway.

One the dead grass subject, my mum told me that she'd read in the paper that if you add a couple of teaspoons of tomato juice to their food, when they use the grass to go potty, it won't die off. I don't know if it works but I think I might give it a try!!!

Is there any different between tomatoes and tomato juice? Mine loves tomatoes, eats them all the time, but my grass is still burning.

Getting back to STUPID, I'm with you Dax, I did something really STUPID, all in the name of my dogs of course.
We have a 1000 gallon tank of spare water, (we are totally tank water here, no mains)
it is in the back yard. I watered the grass for the dogs, make it nice and green for them, they like it green. good for peeing on.... green grass.

Yep, I left the tap on overnight...drained the whole tank. ooops. everyone start praying for rain here.

Oh, Ellierat. Do they come and fill the tank like fuel oil here? I hope you are not without water until it rains?
