more issues with the cut on ear - photos added

so, this morning, Faith's got a small bump under the cut on her ear. i am guessing it's a hemotoba (sp?) filled with a bit of blood - it's only the size of a dime. i've already called the vets to get an appointment/treatment options.

have you guys dealt with these before? what happened?

My Boxer had developed a hematoma at the end of her spay incision. The vet inserted a very small needle and aspirated the fluid and it never came back.
I would talk to the vet, like you're doing, just to make sure it isn't an infection.
Let us know what happens!!

I had a lab who got a hematoma on the inside of the flap of his ear. They drained it, but it came back. They had to drain it again and then sew the 2 layers of his ear together, like a small quilt, so it couldn't fill with blood again. No one knows how he got it-the vet said that dogs with floppy ears sometimes just shake their head too hard and it can cause the hematoma to form. Wierd, isn't it. It ended up fine though (of course, right after that he was diagnosed with lung cancer, and passed away-this was Sam). Now I watch my puppy Maia, just in case! Don't worry though, even if it is big like Sam's was, the vets fix it as good as new. Kathy and Maia

ok - so the vet said to give it a day and see if it goes down (b/c it was so small) because sometimes their bodies can reabsorb the blood by itself.

since it also hasn't gotten any bigger, he wants me to bring her in tomorrow morning (she had breakfast today so it has to wait until she's fasted).

so, more updates tomorrow - except here are some photos for you guys.

Buddy had a big one on the end of his ear. It was a wait to see thing. It finally went down, but his ear is now malformed not that it bothers me or him! If it hadn't gone down on it's own, Dr would have done surgery, but like I said it was big.

i'm hoping to get it taken care of so she doesn't have that sort of thing happen with her ear. not that she'd care, but i don't think i'd like it.

some of it is - she's such a rough and tumble dog that she's got cuts and bruises all the time. i'd hate to have her ear deformed permanently too!
