Jaspers neutering

Is on Fri, wish him luck, i am a little nervous because of boxers and anesthetics, he will be going to the vets used by the rescue which isnt my vets, I have called them and they assured me that they have neutered a lot of boxers and they know what they can and cant use. He will be having a second check up for his shoulders also, and will be x rayed whilst under if the vet decides to.

I guess I would feel better if my vet did him because they have done two neuterings for me already, but I am sure he will be fine and they know what they are doing.

So my baby wont be a happy chap for a few days, and neither will hubby lol because Jasper will be sleeping with me, so I can keep an eye on him and his stitches.

I have to get my puppy Maia spayed and it's like your situation-the rescue place uses another vet that I am not familiar with. Maia is kind of timid, and was getting used to our regular vet, so I hope the one who spays her treats her well and she doesn't get scared all over again. I wish my own could do it, but going to this other was part of the deal when adopting her. Good luck to you and Jasper. I'm sure he'll be fine. Kathy and Maia

I am sure everything will go good. I just got Ella back from her spay and all is A-O-K. She doesn't even seem like anything happened to her.

My baby is home safe and sound, he went through it OK, I am a little concerned as I haven't had any meds given to me for him, our vets give pain relief and antibiotics. He is feeling very sorry for him self, he lies on one side then cries and turns over then cries again and turns again, I think he is a bit of a whoose!

I have been hearing alot on these pet forums about pain meds and antibiotics after a spay/neuter. I have never been given any pain meds to my dogs/cats after they were fixed. Is this something new? My animals always have acted like it never phased them losing that part LOL! Cai is 14 months and is going in sometime in December to get the old snip-snip now that I know I am not going to show him. Glad your boy is A-okay! Hugs to Jasper!

Every dog is different, i remember the difference between Barney and Jake after neutering, they are father and son and both went to the same vet. When I collected Barney he was his usual JRT self bouncy and back to normal before we got home, Jake was a different matter, he pooped himself and was sick twice in the car on the way home and wasn't him self for 3 days it took him ages to be back to normal. Personally I feel better if they are on meds when they return home it safe guards them against infection, some say its more money but personally I would rather that than they get an infection later and have an even bigger bill sorting it out!
