Unhappy Rushed Jasper to the vets

Poor boy swelled up like a balloon at about 10pm last night, I called my vets number and it goes straight to an emergency local vets, I spoke to the vet and he said he was worried about him , as Jasper was also being sick. the vets said I would have to pay tonight, its a £83 late night consolation fee before 11pm, and then any treatment on top of that, well i just didn't have it until payday on Fri so they said they couldn't see him and I would have to wait until morning. Another 30min passed and I could leave him no longer so I called the vets that neutered him, they are open all night and I said how he was they said to leave him until the morning as they were busy with emergencies they booked him in for 9am, another 15min passed and I called then again and said I was very worried he was still being sick, was even more swollen and his stitches were weeping. so they said to take him in, they are 40 min away so the poor boy had an uncomfortable car ride, they said they would sedate him so he didn't make things any worse by being too active. I called this morning and they said to call back at 3pm. So now I am just waiting its 11.30 and I am shattered!

poor Jasper did not want to get out of the car i had to half lift him and half drag him, he just stood on the back seat with the door open and put his head on one side and looked at me like MUM i thought you loved me don't take me in there I felt so bad having to take him back to them, they better look after my baby

could also be an infection that needs to be drained. He is with the vet and will feel better soon Barnjess and will be so happy to see you when you pick him up - he'll forget all about you taking him there.

Oh no, poor boy - keep us updated on his progress.

I have to say that £83 for an emergency consultation is a rip off...

Yep and that was before 11pm god knows what it would of been after! I think thats terrible, it puts people in a really difficult place if they pet need emergency treatment and they don't have the money there and then.

I wish the vets were like they were back in the 70's, no matter if you didn't have the money, the vets would look after the animals, either large or small, that is when the vets was not in it for the money, they genuinely wanted to help animals. We were always told, pay what you can, when you can. They would even come out at the farm, 12 midnight or 7 in the morning,it didn't make a defference. I think with vets now, it is more the money. But then, probably there was a lot of bills went unpaid.
