Famous Rescue of the Week

On Fox News they have a pet of the week that's for adoption that the weather man presents. Yesterday it was Gunner

He's 3 years old and came from an abusive home. The weather man was sure to spell out that Pyrs are indoor dogs that aren't to be trusted around YOUNG kids and are somewhat stubborn. He can be trusted around cats .

Oh and then the news anchor said he either had or has 3 Pyrenees. Guess who my new favorite news anchor is

Oh I love Pyrs, I wish I could have one, but if they are no to be trusted around small kids then they are out for me :-(

it's funny - i hadn't seen this breed in person before this summer, but now i know 2 people in my town that have them.

one is an older lady (i mean the dog) - she's around 11.

the other i just met at the dog park last weekend. another female, but she was just 10 months old.

Dignity-----I thought they were good with kids. One neighbor had one and she had all kinds of little kids playing with it and she also had kids. She came home one day and the dog was on the floor paralyzed, had to pts. never found out what happened , wasn't an old dog, just 4 yrs old.

Many of them are, but they get snappy if they get poked and prodded and pulled on and kids try to ride them and so forth (I'm kinda snappy when kids do that to me too though). If they grow up with kids, than they're fine - but when you don't have the history of the pyr, usually you don't want them with kids. My rescue will not adopt out to family with kids under the age of 10. Most toddlers can be a little too much for the laziness of a pyr.
