Exclamation 17 Starved, HW+ Sled Dogs Seized!!

Nancy (NW Ohio Rescue) is a friend of mine, and I just spoke with her this evening. I might end up taking a couple of the older dogs from this situation. We're still waiting for all the dogs to finish their in-house veterinary treatments.

They really need donations, if any of you have the money to spare.

If anyone would like to donate directly to the veterinary clinics treating these dogs, private message me and I'll send you the addresses. I'm waiting for pictures.

Ohio: 17 Starved Sled Dogs ALL HW+

STARVED SLED DOGS NEED HELP!

About 19 dogs nearly starved to death, and now, ALL ARE HEARTWORM POSITIVE!

Please find it in your heart to help fund the heartworm treatment of these dogs. Even at the discount being given the amount will be astronomical, and then they all must be altered.

Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Huskies, Malamutes and mixes of these northern breeds need your help!

19 dogs were taken from a sled dog racer's home in Mt.Gillead, Morrow County, Ohio.

The owner had left the dogs in the care of a relative while he sought work out west. The caretakers stopped feeding the dogs,
so they are in extremely emaciated condition.

Ohio Malamute rescue took five dogs. A Mt. Gilead OH group took two (one died).

NW OHIO SIBERIAN HUSKY RESCUE has stepped in to try to help the rest. A second young one died.

The very kind dog warden has worked very hard to help us save these dogs.

On top of their starved condition, all are heartworm positive!

One dog is blind and we need help to find a good place for him. Please contact me with ideas. He is very sweet and not dog aggressive. The only place I have for him is my own sled dog kennel and this is not a good situation for a blind dog.

A truly wonderful person, AKC show judge XXXXXXXXXXXXX, Former Malamute breeder, has a vet who has offered discount heartworm treatment. Seven-Eight dogs will be transported there on Monday. We are in desperate need of donations to cover the vet work on these dogs. After heartworm treatement they will also need to be spayed and neutered.

Email Nancy with any questions.
Pictures available. wolfepak@powersupply.net (@powersupply.net)

*DONATIONS ACCEPTED BY CREDIT CARD, BANK DEBIT CARD, PAY PAL, & CHECKS CAN BE MAILED*

PAY PAL donations:

Thanks to those who have taken dogs, transported them and provided large amounts of food for these poor starving dogs.

Now they need financial help to get them treated for heartworm. They have been through so much losing their owner to moving away for work out of state, then not being properly cared for by the person left in charge for whatever reason that was, possibly not being physically able to do all the necessary work. These poor dogs deserve to get treated for heartworm and have a chance at a happy life.

I woke up to photos in my inbox. I might take Zoey and/or Cuddles. They appear to be the oldest, Nancy said. I'll post more photos when I get them. I resized the images so they would be easier to post. On the enlarged versions I originally got, you can see on Cuddles' ears how eaten by flies they are.

ugh... I know many many sled dogs are treated well, but it seems so many of them live rough lives.

Unbelievable. Out here our sled dogs are so well taken care of. Everyone loves to compete in the races in winter and treat their dogs like royalty. I have never seen any more pathetic sight than this.

Sadly, there are bad apples in every walk of life. I have visited numerous Iditarod and Quest veteran kennels, all but one have been great.

When I went to Alaska, I was actually hired by an Iditarod champion to work as a handler in his 200+ dog kennel. I had quit my job in NY, almost had my car sold and MOVED to Alaska. But after only a week, I was so disgusted by his poor treatment of his dogs that I came back to New York. The whole ordeal cost me a few thousand dollars. I told everyone "I didn't move all the way to Alaska to support dog abuse and neglect."

Yes, I did. I had to find my own ride to the Anchorage airport (two and a half hours) because of it. Lucky for me, friends back home had family in a neighboring town and they took me to Anchorage and visited their family while they were there. It was a woman and her three little kids, who ADORED the dog I had with me. Windy got hugged and kissed and belly rubbed the entire way to Anchorage!

I took some photos of the neglect and mailed them to my friend who does cruelty investigations in another part of Junea, he said he'd send them on to the right people for me.

I remember reading in a sled dog book a man was giving tours to tourists via dog sleds and his dog was giving birth WHILE pulling the sled... in the story he laughs and tells how he "scooped up" puppies while they came out... gross...
