want to start major training with Molly

Molly is getting so much better with the commands she already knows. Those being sit/lay down (she doesn't know te difference...oops on my part), stay, release, wait, leave it, andgive it. She also has to sit behind us before we go out the door and she heels relitively well. She has a problem around other dogs, though. She just goes nuts and wants to play. I've figured out she'll do almost anything for a game of tug-of-war.

I wanted to maybe go a little farther. Anyone know any fun, easy tricks that even an extremely ADD dog could do? I was thinking of doing the weeving in and out of the legs trick, as well as shake (nice and easy). Perhaps even doing play-dead. She's so difficult compared to labs, lol!

And update on her- Still fearful, but looks like we got rid of physical aggression. Thank goodness. If anyone reaches out to touch her, she'll still hide behind us, but she'll lick their hand for a tiny little while (less than a second), before backing behind us again. It's a wonderful change. We and her doggy-daycare person have been doing major work on her dominance issues (she developed them pretty recently, already has one strike at the kennel), and since then she's been behaving extremely well. I guess we just can't give her what she wants. Nice. So yeah, we're on our way towards our pup being absoloutly perfect. She's about 10 months old now. She goes to doggy daycare a couple days a week so she can play outside with other dogs all the time, and she comes home exausted and just sleeps for hours. She's having a little cough right now, so she isn't allowed, but I'm sure she can't wait to be back.

Hooboy, have we ever got attention deficiency over here. "Sure, I'll jump over those three hurdles... Hey! Look at that border collie! Play with me! Play with me! ... what did you say?"

Play dead, crawl, bow, shake a paw, sit pretty/beg, and spin are some easy ones that you can work on.

Good luck (I wish Kirby slept, but Nooooooo.....)

First in a lie down, and lure with a treat. I'll start with a treat beside his head, and left my hand up above his head. Chances are his eyes will follow my hand, so he'll have to change the position of his body to keep an eye on it. Just a partial roll-over.

Thanks Moo, I think we will give it a try, I'm still working on roll over with my over grown beast. Meka on the other hand is doing well with roll over, not quite perfect, but almost there.

No problem, dobermom. I love tricks, but we really have to work on your vocal alone. My hands flap and he knows what I'm doing, by voice alone he probably couldn't preform 50% of what he knows.
