Don't you just love it when you find "that vet!"

I LOVED my vet back in Ohio. She was the most caring person I think I've ever met. I was lucky enough to be able to really get to know her when I trained her pup, Eilish. She was the only vet I have gone too that was really in it for the animals. She put in a fence around her practice just for Lishie. She worked 12-14 hour days, 5 days a week and still would fit you in if there was an emergency or urgent situation. Her facility was small and a lot of people were turned off by that. But anyone who went, even once, would soon be regulars. She knew each dog and owner by name, even if they weren't scheduled. She just took the time to get to know everyone. She wasn't concerned about the money and did procedures for free like that, too. She even gave me all of Faith's vaccines, her sedative and a wellness check for free when I told her I was leaving. We cried and hugged and cried some more. OMG! I miss her! An all around awesome person.

I've had vets I really, really liked - and some that I simply didn't care for.

I know there are some great vets in Cali - it's just a matter of finding the right one for you. I got lucky the first time I went to a vet in L.A. - and stuck with her for many years until we moved to NYC, where I just could not find any vet that was truly great.

Here in this little area of Costa Rica, vet service can range from poor to mediocre - the idea of having pets is fairly new down here and most vets only know how to treat horses and cows. We have resorted to taking matters into our own hands as long as it doesn't involve surgery and now function as vets to our dog. And you know what, I love my new vet!

But things are changing and perhaps one day, there will be a professional to consult...

I LOVE MY VET!!!!

She is easy to get a hold of day or night. Will always find time to fit you in no matter how busy she is. She always has a treat appropriate for her patients, she has a cupboard full of different containers with names on them. Ones for big dogs, small dogs, old dogs, new dogs, dogs that have allergies and so forth. All of them get treats when they leave. Her staff is just as welcoming and knowledgable. Our vet will always take the time to relax the pet before doing anything. She is never in a rush. And will answer all your questions in a easy to understand manner. She never talks down to you(I have many a vet that has). She is in this only for the animals. She knows each by name(don't ask me how, I would get tehm all mixed up) and knows all of us. She even does surgery check ups for free, at least she did for us and also gave us Luca's medicated cream for free also. She is always there no matter what. I could go on and on all day. She also knows a lot about specific breeds(trust me many vets do not know much about different breeds). OK I will stop now but there is so much more I could say.

I wouldn't call any of mine great. I would say some are very caring and some just want you in and out with no questions asked. I try to avoid those ones. I'm very happy with this new vet I have been dealing with this weekend. He explains everything even if I know.

I really like my new vet. My old vet was great, but he had odd hours and in case of an emergency you couldn't get ahold of him. My new one is awesome. He has a great attitude, both girls just love him to death (lots of licks) and he knows about GSP's. He is willing to help out where he can... I just love him. Shame that he is married ...lol

Of course I can only say that my vet is the greatest, I work for her lol. But she is the most caring person I would ever want to have my dogs checked by. She is a dog owner and yes, knows all the dogs and clients by name, treats for them all and is available 24/7 also. But I also have a new horse vet that is super fantastic also, I miss the old vet, but this lady is something else.

I wish I had a vet like that. But here no their just in it for the money. I mean I don't believe they'd mis-diagnose just to get more money out of you. But their not friendly. No chit chat. Just what's the prob and here's what we do for that. No getting to know the dog/owners.

Yep, I think my Vet is great because she is also my best friend! There are a lot of things she won't do, or feel knowledgable enough to do. She will find a Vet. for her clients who will handle those situations. She still genuinely cares for the animal and will give people a big break on price if they are short$$. She also does Vet. care for the shelters in the area.

I love my vet, more importantly my babes love her.
She has been there for us and now my entire family goes there.
We saw her in Petsmart one day and Jorge (usually reserved in public) was wagging from head to toy!! AND she lets them kiss her on the mouth!

Unfortunately my vet is just another vet. I don't have that close relationship with my vet that I wish I had.

I'd be fine switching off at any time.
