Nueter update

Well, I dropped my boys off at 730am. I got a call at 815am. BOTH had the pre op screening and the 'panels showed a sensetivity to anesthesia'.
When I picked them up after work the vet was in surgery but she will be calling me. I can't wait that long!
Anyone know what happens next? I know I can just have the girls spayed, which is happening in Dec anyway...but I really wanted EVERYONE altered.
Do I have options as to anesthesia?
The surgery vet isn't my reg vet, one of her colleagues.......one who thought I sounded apprehensive. DUH now because I question if I want the procedure done but because I worry they would not handle the surgery!!
Anyway, that's the almost end of my bad day....still have dinner with my brother & family tonight so there is still room for more to go wrong!

Whimz, settle down. I swear, this can be done with their eyes closed. There shouldn't be a problem with the anaesthtic if the dogs are healthy.I did my first neuter when I was at school, even I could do it with eyes closed, relax. go enjoy your dinner with the family.

I would be curious to know the exact screening test that showed a sensitivity, how they came to that conclusion. Hang on, don't read a lot of worry into it until you can speak with your regular Vet. Family dinners.......MUAHAHA!!! lol

Well, they never called me. BUT my brother said Jake's prescreen was ok with a slight reaction possible. Jake was fine. I am going to talk to MY vet about the results and then go from there.
Side note: we have the same vet and I guess my brothers g/f tore into them wwhen they did surgery even with the slight reaction lol
Maybe they were afraid I'd sick her little 5'2" 120lb butt on them.
If it's the same slight reaction I will go through with it because as I said Jake is fine!

PUNG-You got to perform a nueter? how?
I don't want anyone operating on my babies with their eyes closed!

Don't worry whimz, I don't do that anymore lol. Of course I got to do a neuter, why do you think I took a vet course lol. I even neutered our small toy when he was 5 mos. old....was getting to obnoxious lol.

I thought you were a tech not a vet lol
I must have you confused with someone else.

I am only a vet tech. But we still have to learn this and it's such a simple thing that we get to do it at the vet we work for quite often. You would be surprised at how much stuff we learn, highly educational and very interesting. Great respite from Psychology too lol.

Canada must have different rules, here vet techs aren't qualified (well allowed to, don't want to offend the great techs) to perform surgeries!

Unless it is just my clinic, any US techs that can help me out lol

Are you serious? We have to know all our drugs and x-ray equiment, anaesthetics, we do blood profiles, poop and urine cultures etc. What do the vet techs do where you live? Maybe you are thinking of vet assistants?

Vet Techs do spay/neuter surgeries all the time in the US, most of the time tho they do them at shelters saves them money.
