homesick puppy?

My sister and her dog Summit live with my husband, myself and our dog Roslynd. Since Thursday Sis and Summit have been house/dog sitting. Summit has been staying there with Sis and the 2 resident dogs, and Sis says Summit doesn't sleep well there, and seems lethargic. Sis dropped Summit off here this morning as she had to go to work. We have gone out to play, and Roslynd was her bouncy playful self, but Summit just kind of wanders around, doesn't really want to play. And inside, Summit is just laying around, cuddling right up to me on the couch, when she usually prefers the floor or the "dog couch" and she is not really interested in the treats or playing. Do you think she is homesick? Depressed? I am usually the primary care-giver to Summit, Sis is in school and works long hours, but she does know Sis is her "mommy"... She hasn't slept well at the other house, so perhaps she is resting up while she is here? I feel bad for the little pup... even her eyes look sad...

Thoughts? Advice?

She might just be confused as to what is going on. She might think that her home is changing somehow but she doesn't know how. Does she still eat as normal other than the treats? Any changes in her other than her activity level?

When my family moved most recently, my pup Romper had lived in one house for over four years, she was born and grew up there. When we moved, I was here at college so it was already tough for her. She found a bed and stayed under it for about a month, (and this is my bouncy always hyper dog) she would only come out to eat and go outside. But she eventually got used to it and now considers it home (especially once I went home and she knew I knew where she was.)

Thanks Heartsong... today her eating has been normal, she ate all of her breakfast and her lunch.... she will be back with my sister for dinner.....

No other noticable changes that I can see... I'm taking them over to my parents to play with their dog, so we'll see how she is there. The three dogs always play hard, so hopefully she'll have some fun!!

I would say Weim, that she missed YOU. She has probably made a strong attachment to you and Roslynd, despite the fact that she is your sisters dog.
Toughts of the way it will possibly be when your sis takes her for good??

I think changes are stressful to adult dogs. They can adjust but it takes a little time. Just let her feel welcome and loved and no matter where she goes, she'll adjust in short order.
