Anti Bloat Bowls
The bowls I ordered for Ariel arrived today. They do work. She normally finishs her dinner in 7 to 12 seconds. With this bowl it took almost a minutes and 45 seconds. Great improvement.
I had to order them in as no one locally was carrying them. http://www.northcoastmarines.com/dog_food_bowls.htm Quote:

Hey those bowls are a great idea! WOW 1min 45secs....
If you saw my little dainties eat you'd laugh. They all eat so slow. I think the operate in slow motion LOL |

WOW.. that is fast.
Louise can chow down.. but because Ollie is a little food aggressive with her, she isn't allowed to eat and she only takes bites at a time. Same with Ollie and his dwarf mouth, lol. And now the kitten.. he eats slow too. His little mouth barely even fits the dry diet!

That is a neat idea, although likely more costly than finding a bit rock and putting it in the bowl, which would serve the same purpose.
I read in a dog first aid book that you can feed meals off of a platter, or even a cookie sheet to prevent gulping. |

I've never had gulpers, but those bowls are a good idea. Too bad they're plastic though, it would be nice if the came in stainless steel aswell. They probably work exactly the same as a rock would, but knowing my dogs, they'd probably just pick the rock up and drop it on the floor if I ever had to use that technique..lol.

I tried toys, etc.in her bowls. She picked them out LOL. Even a good size rock wouldn't pose must problem for her to lift out.
I wish they had a stainless steel elevated model with the obstructions. That would be the bowl of bowls. |

The problem that I have with the Pug I look after is that he has such a poorly formed jaw line...his lower jaw juts out quite abit further than the upper part, so his whole jaw including the back ones are out of alighment as well, so when he eats he has to flip the food up the bowl then he catches it with his loewr jaw...I don't think this bowl could help him unfortuanatly.

Wow, I never heard of all of this before. My Yorkies are pretty dainty eaters. How does a dog flip up his food and catch it with his lower jaw. I am having trouble imagining it. As to the perfect dog dish, would the bowl fit into an elevated stand made for other dishes?
