just venting

Hello All!
Just refilled Conans Sentinel...$$$! The vet informed us that because he is a GIANT he has to double his dosage. So glad we got him insurance, although everyone still seems to think we are crazy for doing it. It's a little pricey but Conan is worth every penny and then some (of course). That's all for now, just wanted to vent!

Did he charge you double of one shot or just for the extra medicine? At only 100lbs he's not quite a giant YET. What's he planning to do when Conan reachs full weight of 180? 3 times?

The insurance plan I was looking at didn't cover regular vaccinations or treatments for fleas, etc. You must be paying a small fortune.

Conan we don't have insurance for dogs here in Oz, when I buy stuff for mine I have to buy for 3, so I know how you feel with the hip pocket, 1 packet of Advantage does one dose for the three, so I have to buy multiple packets to get us through the season. To worm my three I have to use 30kg pills at $12au each...our vet bill is always astronomical. Their food, we go through 8kg just in dry stuff in a week.
I buy one coat, I have to get three. One collar...three, and so it goes on. But I would not give one away for all the world.
Give him a hug for me.

hey guys-

The vet said because he weighs in at over 100lbs. He needs to take two pills now instead of just one. I have a funny feeling this may not be covered by insurance, but our dedectable is $100, and the meds are $142. So we will see what happens. We have been buying 50 lb. bags of dog food, anything smaller seems silly at this point. I think it lasts him maybe a month. I really am wanting another dog lately, I've been thinking about Douge's, but there is just no way. I need a bigger house.

Hehe, and I thought mine was bad.
It cost me more to have a small cyst removed from Bailey (it was outside her skin) than it did for my horse to get; gelded + tooth removed + vaccination + laceration cleaned.

I sure know what you mean about spending the $$$$$$$$$ on these buddies of ours. Sidney's knee surgeries each cost $1,200 and that did not include the meds and follow up appointments. Now she's on Rimadyl (sp) for $80.00 bucks a month. So I work a few more hours and make sure she and Gretta (no medical problems with her) have what they need. Ahhhhhhhhh, but they are so worth it. Although at times things get tight.

Even this little kitty of mine costs us a fortune, he is known as the Million dollar cat.
Two goes at snake bites has cost us a whopping...wait for it....$2,800.00 american.
Unfortunately if he gets bit this season he is a done duck, not the money, but they get about 2 shots anitvenene then the body rejects it and will kill him anyway. I have prepared myself, cause he gets bit every year here.
Oh, and Ellie's phantom, that cost $500.oo american to tell us there was nothing wrong with her. here is the pic again of the half million dollar dog, with the million dollar cat. lol.

He's 100 lbs, so he needs a double dose? But doesn't Sentinel have pills in categories up to 100 lbs?
