I think she is....

I really do think Tigger is slowly slipping away. Couple days ago she had a burst of energy and just was happy as ever. Last night before I went to the gym my MIL came over to watch my daughter and Tigger wanted to greet her but I intervened and she really didn't like that at all and she growled and mouthed my arm. Not like her at all. She is only on 2 pills 2x day now instead of 5 2x a day. I'm not real sure if these meds are making her go mental or she is just really in pain. She sleeps most of the day away other than going to the bathroom she doesn't do much. She also does something really weird when she goes out she hunts for this mouse that was on our porch like a month ago don't know why she keeps trying to find it. Her breathing last night seemed weird she looked like she was having a bit of difficulty. Just odd things are happening with her.

{{{{HUGS}}}}

Sorry Tiff.

The meds could be making her feel off and causing strange behaviour. Try to keep her as quiet as possible and try not to introduce anuthing new until the treatment is finished.

Why are the meds cut down ?

I don't think she is in pain, although she could be. I would bet she is feeling very tired and drawn out from the heartworms and also from the meds.

Think positive, she can and will make it through this. HUGS agian, you and Tigg are in my prayers.

I have found most dogs seem worse before they get better. It might just be that.

Dogs are amazingly strong with strong wills to live. You've given her the chance the rest is up to nature.

I agree with Dax, some dogs do seem to get worse and then all of a sudden they're as good as gold.

You are doing all that is needed, she may be a tad stressed as she isn't feeling 100% at the moment but time is the healer of all wounds and she will snap out of her 'moods' and be her usual self in due course, take heart and everything will be okay.

Just a thought....I am a big believer in strengthening a dog's immune system when they are afflicted with something so I would supplement her diet with vitamins esp. Vit. C, about 1000mg daily (human variety), not the chewable ones as she would probably spit them out rather than chew them, there are varieties out there that are designed to reduce stomach upsets as Vit. C can sometimes cause diarrhea in certain dogs.

Wishing Tigger all the very very best of luck and plenty of hugs.

keep yr head up,it will get better.A dog in pain will react differently.The only thing i know is that she is lucky to have you.I really hope she gets better,soon.Boxers are really fun dogs and I never knew they were so loving.I walk with someone that has a brindle boxer and he is a lovebug and a leaner.He is really sweet.
