My dog hurt himself

Just came home from a walk and my hovawart is limping on his left front legs. He's not whinning or anything ,can't see anything in it and can move the leg around without any resistence. He did that while playing with another dog. He's now on bed rest which is going to be interesting.I'm sure Dobermom and Rudy's Mom know what I'm talking about.Grrr!!!!!

Just a thought but are there any bees around atm? Reason I am asking is that a puppy that I had placed over 12 mths ago had been stung by a bee and she was limping on her back leg and upon closer inspection the owner found a bee that was still stuck on the pad of her foot and the pup's demeanour (this happened a few days after the pup had gone to her new home) had changed, she was much quieter so the owner rang the vet and the vet suggested she bring the pup in for a shot of antihistamine.

I could be wrong and I certainly hope I am and I hope it is nothing too serious but that was the 1st thing that sprung to mind; I lost my beloved Merlin (a stunning papillon) 3 years ago, he was playing in the backyard and had been stung by a bee and unfortunately he developed an allergic reaction and his whole body esp his head was swollen, I had gone across the road to see a neighbour and was only gone for 30 mins. so when I came home and saw my Merlin in that state I quickly grabbed him and put him in the car and I sped all the way to the vet which was only about 2 kms down the road but unfortunately he passed away as I was walking in the doorway of the surgery....the vet attempted to resuscitate him with a shot of andrenaline and whatever else but it was too late...it hurts everytime I think about it.

Please let me know of the outcome, hope all is well...cheers.

What an awful way to lost your dog. To something you would think is as simple as a bee sting. I lost a puppy racing to the vet after a terrible accident. She, too, died as I walked in the door. That car ride was awful. I was going 100 mph and I felt like I was going 10.

G&H - I hope every thing turns out o.k. and that it's something as simple as a sprain. I know easy for me to say that when you have to keep a large dog "quiet". Keep us informed.

Thanks for the answers.I am so sorry for both yr dogs. What an awful way to go.I didn't know a bee, could cause lameness so thanks for the insight.
Well, this morning,he is not showing any limping whatsoever. He is moving around, normally so I really don't know what cause it.Should I still take easy with him?.He is sitting next to me waiting for his walk.

Check between the pads of his toes. He could have stepped on something that cut, scraped or bruised his pad. Dog's can be such drama queens about their feet
