Derriere (Backside)

THE BACKSIDE: I know, no one likes to go there, BUT, it is a part of your dog, it came with him/her and still needs periodic attention.
The most common and easiest attention seeking a dog can do with his bottom is to scoot it along the ground, he is giving you a message...something is irritating him/her. No it doesn't necessarily mean he/she has worms, it could be a number of things, it is just that worms can irritate the area too.

A LIST OF THE COMMON AILMENTS OF DOGS BOTTOMS:

Worms
Foreign Body
Sore Ana* Glands/Sacs
Infected Ana* Glands/Sacs
Skin Irritation/Allergy
Impacted faeces

UNCOMMON AILMENTS:
Tumours
Cancer

LONG COATED BREEDS: It is best to keep the area clipped short to avoid faeces becoming attached to the fur and causing an infection.
