9 year old lab has paw problem

My dog keeps over-grooming her legs taking hair off and leaving them bare, and then gnaws on the bottom of her paws taking the top layer off of her pad. She can barely walk because of it, got any idea as to why she's doing this?

Could be a food allergy and/or boredom.

Has a vet checked her? Have you tried the anti fur biting lotions available?

It could be allergy or boredom.I would take her to the vet and make tests. To stop the biting,I would use the Elizabethan collar that you can by,at petsmart and put it on when you're not home so as to stop the biting habit.i hope you can find an answer cos it's very distressing to look at yr dog, doing that.Good-luck.
