I think I have found the cause of his limping.

Is he bearing the same amount of weight on the bad foot as the other in the pic? Can you get a frontal shot of both with equal weight bearing? Sorry, it's hard to tell in the pic, it looks like he is not putting full pressure on the paw.

Yes, he is putting full weight on it. I noticed it at obience last night, and there I am sure he had dull weight on it.

well, the toe extended the furthest looks more stretched out than the other, but not necessarily out of line with the joint. If he strained a muscle even further up the foot, it could cause him to "hold" his balance differently making the toes look "stretched". He did see the Vet already right? Guess if it were me, I would return for an xray, and full exam of the toes.

I was thinking the same thing about an xray, but didn't want to over react.

Wondering if it would be worth emailing the vet the pictures?

I have not tried that, but he lets me touch them.

I'm just thinking that your Vet would have felt obvious signs of a dislocated joint or fracture. But I suppose a hairline break could be missed. I would lean more towards a pulled tendon, but who am I! lol If your Vet is willing to check an email, what the hay, do it. It will either save you another trip or the opposite.

I'm not sure what they can do if the toe is broken.

I know absolutely nothing about broken toes, but I hope Clifford is alright and that whatever it is, it's easy to fix! Poor boy!
