Limping Star II

Today Star was out, running with Angel like they usually do. She hasn't been limping in awhile. Since we have been having alot of deer around I huried up and called for the girl's. Angel came running full tilt with no Star trailing her like usual. When Star finally came she had that same left paw up, crying and would not put any weight on it. I looked at it and moved it around and couldn't find anything wrong, but she has still crying. So I carried her into the house and gave her some pain meds the vet gave to me and let her rest. Right now she is doing fine...a slight limp but not bad.

I'm really starting to worry about this. If it was growing pains it would change legs, but it's staying with the left one all the time. So tomorrow I'm going to get her an appointment to see the vet.

Other thing I'm wondering is if her micro chip is causing this prob. See when she had it implanted it went into her left shoulder instead of between the shoulder blades just below the skin and if you feel for it you feel a nickle size bubble.

I don't know. We will find out tomorrow.

My vet was out of town when I went to the office. So I ended up seeing the emergency vet and all I can say is . If I would of known that I would of never went. I have dealt with her before and was not impressed.

When I took Star to the vet she wasn't limping badly. After looking at Star's chart we ended up arguing about which leg she has been limping on. According to her it says the right front and it was the left front. I suppose if you stand in front of her it would be your right, but Star's left. After checking her temp for a fever all she could tell me was keep her on pain meds, apply an ice pack and limit her running/playing. I asked about putting her on Glucosamine and she thought I was talking a foreign language "Just buy a bottle of puppy vitamins." I left there more preturbed then getting answers.

I really do not want to keep her on pain pills...mainly Rimadyl. My real vet told me only to give it to her when you see she is in really bad pain. I did pick up a bottle of Glucosamine for dogs and been giving it to her and Angel. If this is growing pains it is sure staying in the same leg.

I could really use some cheering up from my ProDog friends right now. Things are looking very bleek for Star. This morning I schedule an emergency visit with my vet for x-rays. It turns out that Star has a broken bone in her shoulder and has to have surgery. I have been trying to get an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon ever since I gotten home. The only time I can get her in is next week. Here is where it get complicated... I have been laid off from work since January and I finally gotten a new job which starts when..MONDAY. Star would have to see the surgeon and I would pick her up the next day. It's a 4 hour ride there and I have to be at work from 9 - 6. AAAHHHH I don't know what to do and have no one to take her there.

Until I can get her in she is on crate rest, only can be walked out to pee and Rymidyl for the pain. I would be doing the surgery not out of vanity for her being a show pup, but so that she wont be in pain. From what I have heard so far she will never be normal

What a great Birthday
