Meet Raven!!

Well, many of you know that I've been looking to adopt a Border Collie. Well, we found the girl, we've been approved, and all that is left is to transport her to her new home and sign the paper work!! I'm so happy that I could burst! My husband and I drove out to meet her... about 200 miles. My husband was so upset that he couldn't take her home right THEN. We fell in love with her, she is such a gem. She is now 10 months old, and two months ago she was abandonded on the side of a road with a box of kittens. The Wisconsin rescue took her in, spayed her and updated all her shots, and placed her in a foster home. We weren't the only family interested in her, but we were the only family that fitter her needs! She's going to be my second agility dog -- along with Reid.

Well, enough talking! Here is Raven.

She is just about 25lbs, and will mature to be 16" at the shoulder. She is a petite, tiny little girl! But boy oh boy is she intelligent and FAST. This girl can run! She will be my high drive agility girl, and Reid will be my agility boy - he doesn't have quite the drive and willingness to please and work that she does. I cannot wait to get her home and settled in. Once she's home, I will be posting pictures of her and Reid together! So, keep a look out.

How wonderful that you're taking her in!! She's cute as a button. Looks like she may have something else mixed with Border Collie - Terrier of some sort?? Don't Border Collies typically have longer hair and floppy ears? I'm not really sure since it's been a while seen I've one up close and personal.

It matters none anyway. She's adorable and I can't wait for more pics of her!

No, Border Collies can have pricked ears as well. Sometimes there inbetween as well, one pricked, one tipped. It all depends on the dog and genetics. At first, I thought she was mixed as well, but after meeting her in person, I realized there was no way she was mixed. She's Border Collie to the teeth. The pictures I have of her just don't do her justice. It's kinda of funny actually, her ears look huge in these pictures, but in person they fit her perfectly. You should see my parents Border Collie, he could fly with those ears!

Also, Border Collies come in smooth coat, but I haven't seen many of them in my area. She has a medium coat type, but I don't think it's had the chance to grow to the best of it's ability due to a poor diet.

ok that stetles it, Perky must have some BC in her, Raven is the SECOND Border Collie I have found that could almost be Perkys twin lol now perky though DOES have some Terrier in her, she is much shorter, at 12" full grown like a shorty jack.

Perky is the speckled one

Thank you guys I'm really excited to bring her into our life!

Pro Dog is the site that orginially shed light onto adoption for me. So, I'd like to thank all those you do rescue here for sharing their stories and information with all of us. You guys are the ones who inspired me to start looking into rescues. So, while you cannot save all of the dogs in need, you have reached out to others who can also help.

congrats!

i'm surprised the rescue group didn't have you bring your current dog so they could watch them interact a bit.

i'm sure things will go well, but i wanted to give you a bit of advice and do some reading up on the forum here and other sites about how to introduce dogs and what to expect.
