Find something that will make your dog bark naturally. For my dog Ginger, it was the doorbell. She could see me ring the doorbell and still bark about it. So I said speak and rang the doorbell at the same time until eventually she would bark just on "speak." Ginger taught Patches how to speak just as she taught Patches all her tricks. Romper took a bit more effort. I held a treat and called to her and said speak and got her as excited as I could. Eventually the excitment was too much and she let out a bark, so she got a treat. After a few times she figured out what I wanted. My brother taught Gemini by staring at her until she barked. And also saying speak anytime she barked. Ruffles and Mystic aren't barkers so they don't know speak yet.

I taught Ripley by getting him excited, talking in a high-pitched happy voice, and jumping around.. that was enough to make him go "woo-woo-woo", and when he did I would praise him and give a treat.

I tried teacking my dog dakota that and the only thing her would bark for is getting him excited so i did and praised him but he never learned speak after weeks so i decied to stop and now he barks uncontrolably all the time because I praised him when i was teaching him. So just be careful in what message you send them.

I guess I can't help out on this one, it never happened for me. Kirby very rarely barked until recently... at every big/dark dog that passes... So I think it's something that I want to be stopping. lol :P

My little puppy bark when my kid play with a big steel swing with a bad bearing making a squeeling noise (needs to be lubricated) I think the puppy confuse it with a crying dog.
