Failed Fosters

How many people here have orignally fostered an animal only to adopt it? We recently were fostering a litter of kittens and we all got attached to the biggest guy in the litter. We ended up keeping him. Right now we are foster a dachshund named Dixie (pics to come) and it looks like she is going to stay. The poor gal came to us scared, skinny, and under socialized. She is twelve weeks old. She was from a puppy mill bust. My dad, who has never liked small dogs, kept saying " I like this dog", " She doesn't jump." when she first came to stay and so far everyone is in love with her.

We also were orginally fostering Tomas, my guinea pig, but he won over our hearts. Finally we are currently fostering two guinea pigs that are staying for sure. We just have to sign the adoption papers and pay the fee. Miss Piggy, a teddy, has the funniest personality of any guinea pig I have ever owned. She never stops wheeking! Then there is Rodger, her neutered cage mate. He is pretty quiet.

Anyone else here failed fosters?

This is the reason my hubby fears me wanting to foster. I know I would be a failure too

I have been a foster failure many, many times. Oh well, of all the things to fail at, I guess this is a good choice.

I was a successful foster mom! It was REALLY hard to say good bye to my Sagey, but I know she went to a good home and she's happy their.

Dixie is staying! I really need to get pictures of the girl. She is still underweight and under socialized. We have had her separate from Mia and Halo because she's terrified of them. We continue meeting new people everyday though. When I go into the shelter to volunteer in the morning she comes along just to get a chance to socialize her.

Halo gets along with Dixie very well and realizes how much smaller Dixie. Mia doesn't realize how much bigger she is though. I watch them play very closely when we let them play together. I'm thinking about getting Dixie registered under and ILP with the AKC.

ahhh congrats on your adoption! I couldnt foster.... I would end up with more of a zoo than I have. Dh and I have talked about fostering children (two legged kind) but he thought better against it. He said we would end up with like 20 kids.
