Pudge wants (needs) a home / Pictures Added

We got a dog at work. For months and months, I dealt with cats every day. Sorry cat-folk, but they are not nearly exciting enough for me.

We got a Shar Pei mix in on Tuesday from the Surrey SPCA. His paperwork had no name on them. The groomers wanted to call him Fred, the cashiers called him Percy, manager called him Memphis. Ultimately, I took in his paperwork, so I called him Pudge. lol.

He is so cute! Still at our work though... after nearly a week, which is practically unheard of. Last few dogs stayed no more than 2 days before they found themselves homes. Makes no sense to me, as Pudge is by far the loviest dog we've had yet. He was found a stray, so the shelter had no background on him. He only has a wrinkly head, and I think he looks Chow x Shar Pei, an entirely probably mix, as people like to mix those for some god-awful reason. He has pretty nice teeth, yep, he let me open up his mouth, so I'd say he is no older than three years old.

He plays ball; doesn't like biscuit treats; and he can sit, lay down, shake both paws, and come. He cries if I go to the back room without him, and he was scared of Santa Claus, a couple JRTs, and the cats. He knows how to put his paws up on a surface on command, and he walks nicely on a lead. He is housebroken, and won't make a mess in his kennel, or the adoptions office/laundry room/the daycare play room; but I spent Saturday morning, before the store opened, teaching him not to pee on the things in the store.

He's a picky eater, and we spent Friday morning (while the store manager wasn't in ) trying to find out what treats he liked. We don't get many dogs in, and when we do, most of the store comes and spoils them. He liked anything semi-soft... and one of the cashiers fed him an entire bag of snausages! Then one of the hardlines guys gave him five pepperoni sticks! He sure didn't feel very good after that one. When I came in the next morning, he puked up a couple of times... better with me, and in the play room, than in his kennel, I suppose; but I'm sure he felt better after getting that out of his system.

I'm not back at work until Tuesday, and I hope he's still there.... He has no applications on him yet, but as much as I want him to go home fast, I also want to have some input on where he goes. He deserves a good home. How do you say no to a face like this?

The dog was still at work today. I took some pictures on my cell phone, but I don't know how to get them on to my computer.

I'm not going to deny the fact that I've been neglecting the other aspects of my job to spend time with this dog. When scary-angry-monster-manager isn't at work, I tie him to my waist and have him with me while I do my other work.

He doesn't pull on the lead, so I didn't slip & die when we went for a walk on huge sheets of ice. lol. And he goes into his kennel on command.

Hey doglovin, got room for one more? lol

Friday comes again, again I am not in until Tuesday (except for a staff meeting Sunday), and still, Pudgie-head has no applications on him.

I had a couple of owners of daycare dogs take a look at him, but no serious interest. Other than some skin problems (hot spots, sensitivity in the webbing) he's an over-all healthy and great dog.

He's waiting so patiently in a room full of 8 cats.

He looks good Moo.

Dont feel too bad, there are many other places he could be that would be not so nice. For a pound puppy he has it pretty good.
