Joint Supplement?

I have a 6 year old Golden Retriever/Yellow Lab who has just started to fet artheritis. Last month he was chasing another dog out of our yard and chiped a piece of artheritis off his sholder and was in ALLOT of pain. I took him to the vet and got Xrays and meds and all that.

But, I was wondering... is there a supplement that you guys use or like for an older dog with an onset of artheritis? I would perfer something that I could give by hand real quick as I also have a year old shepard/terrier mox and I dont want her to get into it.

Thanks!

I would recommend MSM With Glucosamine - you can find it at just about any drug store. MSM has many benefits for dogs, and humans.

My puppy had shoulder surgery last month to remove some chipped bone and reattach her muscle. The surgeon recommened that she be placed on 600mg of Glucosamine and 400mg of Chondroitin given twice a day for six weeks then decrease to 1 tablet a day after that.

chrondrotin with glucosamine is about the best thing - it's what our vet routinely recommends for all med/large sized dogs from the age of about 4 years anyway.

We give our 9 year old golden GlycoFlexII. She is doing very well on it. We have also found a dog food that contains glucosamine from Nutro.

Thats what I give to my 7 year old Great Dane, she is doing great on it! I buy it at walmart, and just drop the pill in her food.

I had my horse on a Chondrotin and Glucosamine supplement and would recommend it for your dog. Together, they increase the production of synovial fluid, which is the fluid that surrounds the joints and eases any friction that may be present.

Best wishes.
