Help. Worried about Ramone!

Ever since we got back from the vet, I've noticed a sort of cough from Ramone. He was vaccinated against bordatella there last week. It's almost like he's coughing something up. It wasn't a concern until tonight, because it's gotten considerably worse. He's coughing regularly now whereas before it was just every once and a while. I've heard kennel cough before, this doesn't sound like it. But, could the vaccine have made him sick? I know in vaccines, they use heavily diluted, very weak strains of the disease. With the bad condition he is in, could he have gotten it? The girls aren't coughing. I believe both were vaccinated though (I know for sure Faith was). Or could it be something else? I mean, it could even be a cold from being stuck outside in that old crate in the cold.

Any advice would be great, thanks!

In the tiny breeds it could be tracheal collapse, which tends to get worse with stress and/or exertion. Miko has it and it's nothing to fool with.
He coughs and finally it sounds like he's brought something up, but he hasn't.

Of course, it could be many other things, too. If it persists, see the vet.

Vaccines can cause a mild sickness as the immune system starts to work to produce anti bodies. Most of the time there is nothing thta is detectable but depending on the dog they can show sickness. Most of the time it is nothing to worry about. If your dog worsens call your vet and as, or just call to ease your mind.

There are times a vaccine has gone bad but when this occurs it usually produces a quick and violent result. I have had a cat that had bad vaccine and within hours was extremely ill and had to be rushed to the emerg vet.

The kennel cough vaccine doesn't prevent all types of it. It is only for Bordetella. He could still have a cold virus that he wasn't protected against. give the vet a call he might need to see him and is it is a collapsing trachea it would be better to know about.
Since he was not in good health he could have picked something up eassily and your dogs might never catch it being stronger but why take the chance.

Poppy had a cough once and she actually had got something stuck in her throat (it was a tiny bit of linseed). I was going to take her to the vets the next day but she managed to cough it up.

If it doesn't get better I would say another vet visit is in order!

My vet doesn't give my dogs the Kennel Cough Vaccination because of the risk of it giving them a cough. Since I don't kennel them anywhere they said there was no need to add the risk. My sister had her's vaccinated once and they all coughed for a long time.

Did he get a heartworn check? Heartworms can cause coughing.

RoughCollie,
I know that in the tiny breeds my vet does not do Lepto due to the risk of reaction.
Also, I always get by Bordatella injectable not nasal, sometimes the large does of nasal gives them trouble.
You do know about "reverse sneezing" in the toy breeds and he is not doing that is he?
Good luck to little Ramone, and keep us posted. Is his temp normal?
